About Us

History
Goshen Art House has been a staple 501C3 non-profit in the Goshen, Indiana community for more than 20 years. Beginning as New World Players in 1998, the organization was founded as a space for Goshen thespians to perform and curate original works. The organization then changed its name to New World Arts in the early 2000s to open its doors to a variety of local arts and artists. Now, the organization operates as Goshen Art House, taking its residence in the historical downtown theater, the Goshen Theater. As the artist in residence, Goshen Art House hosts monthly events at the Goshen Theater and utilizes office space in the building.

Who We Are
Goshen Art House is run by its Executive Director and a working board of eight individuals with backgrounds and passions in the arts. Goshen Art House has a robust calendar of events, all produced by board members and the ED, that showcase and collaborate with regional artists of all specialties.
Our Mission
Goshen Art House’s mission is to provide creative opportunities for the region’s artists by producing low-barrier, high-possibility events featuring film, theater, comedy, music, literature, and art.
Upcoming Events
Drag Me to Prom: Painted Black
Join Art House on Saturday, May 3rd, at the Goshen Theater for Drag Me to Prom: Painted Black. Drag Me to Prom is an annual adult prom celebrating the talents of regional drag performers. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door for $15. This event is 18+, and attendees must show ID at the door. Box office opens at 7:30pm, and doors open at 8pm.
It is Art House’s promise to create safe and supportive environments for artists and patrons. To ensure this, we will have security at this event and will not be allowing large bags (backpacks/totes) into the Prom.
Never been to a drag show? That’s okay! Here’s what you can expect:
Drag is a gender-bending art form where performers dress in clothing that accentuates a particular gender identity.Performances are put to song and often include dancing and lip-syncing.Performers are adorned in elaborate costumes (often hand-made!), makeup, and hair to create a signature look for their performance.Drag is all about audience participation! Dance and sing along with the Queens and Kings on stage to show your support for their hard work.Tipping! Bring cash to tip performers – this is how they get paid. They will dance up to you to collect the money, so if you are shy, you may want a friend to do this for you.Performers put a LOT of time into their look for the evening – go up and ask for photos with them! They are the stars of the show.
This year’s theme is “Painted Black” – think “Goth Prom.” Heavy eyeliner, chokers, black prom dresses; come adorned in whatever makes you feel edgy (we know it’s not just a phase). There will be awards for “Best Dressed” and “Prom Royalty” between drag performances, and the dance floor will be yours for the taking.
*This event includes loud music and flashing lights.
