About Us

History

Goshen Art House has been a staple 501C3 non-profit in the Goshen, Indiana community for more than 20 years. Beginning as New World Players in 1998, the organization was founded as a space for Goshen thespians to perform and curate original works. The organization then changed its name to New World Arts in the early 2000s to open its doors to a variety of local arts and artists. Now, the organization operates as Goshen Art House, taking its residence in the historical downtown theater, the Goshen Theater. As the artist in residence, Goshen Art House hosts monthly events at the Goshen Theater and utilizes office space in the building.

Goshen Art House is run by a working board, which consists of individuals with various backgrounds and passions in the arts. Goshen Art House has a robust calendar of events and programs that showcase and collaborate with regional artists of all specialties.

Our Mission

Goshen Art House’s mission is to provide creative opportunities for the region’s artists by producing low-barrier, high-possibility events featuring film, theater, comedy, music, literature, and art.

Solstice Sessions

We’re excited to share that our annual summer literary gathering is entering a new chapter. After five wonderful years as Summer Solstice Speaks, the event will continue under a new name:

Solstice Sessions: An Evening of Poetry & Short Stories | Sat. June 20 | 7-9pm

While the name is changing, the heart of the event remains the same… an evening of poetry, short fiction, and shared storytelling inspired by the spirit and energy of the summer solstice.

This new name reflects how the event has grown over the years and the wide range of voices it brings together each June. Returning attendees can expect the same welcoming, creative atmosphere they’ve come to love, now carried forward under a title that feels a little more expansive and true to the event’s evolving spirit.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped shape this gathering over the past five years, and we look forward to coming together once again to celebrate writing, community, and the longest light of the year!

LOL Comedy Show

Prepare to laugh as Art House presents the fifth annual Laugh Out Local Comedy Showcase, Saturday, July 11th at the Goshen Theater! This year we’re bringing you a comedy six-pack with 100 minutes of funny! We’ve got comics from all over the Midwest, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio!

This show has a killer lineup from top to bottom that always leaves the audience in stitches, so come out and laugh and help support the Art House at the same time!

Build Your Own Band Fest

Musicians of all backgrounds and skill levels will come together on the morning of August 15th to be assigned to collaborative bands and practice locations in downtown Goshen. Throughout the day, these newly formed groups will write and rehearse original songs.

Goshen Art House’s mission is to foster accessible, creative opportunities for artists, and celebrate artistic expression. The event encourages connection, experimentation, and the joy of making music together.

On the evening of the 15th, a showcase will be held at the historic Goshen Theater, where each band will present their freshly crafted work up on stage. Attendees will participate in a live vote to determine the BYOB Fest winning band!

All ages event: musicians have creative freedom and may elect to incorporate content that is not appropriate for all ages. Attendance is up to the discretion of a parent/guardian.
